Top 10 players available during the 2025-26 offseason
The MLB free agency the signing period will begin on Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. ET. There are some big-name players who will hit the open market, and with all the record-breaking contracts that have been handed out in recent years, some big deals are bound to be negotiated. This is especially true because the Los Angeles Dodgers have been MLB’s biggest spenders of late and have been rewarded with back-to-back World Series victories. ClutchPoints has already looked the best MLB free agents at every positionbut check out the gallery to see the top 10 free agents overall.
10. Pete AlonsoNew York Mets, 1B

Aging first basemen are often undervalued in free agency, but Pete Alonso has been too good for too long not to be considered one of MLB’s best free agents this offseason. Alonso burst onto the scene as a rookie with the New York Mets in 2019 with 53 home runs. He hasn’t had that kind of long ball production since, but he remains one of the best power threats in baseball.
Alonso is also contributing to his game, as he is coming off a career-high season in batting average (.272). He is one of the most reliable players in the league as well, in the sense that he does not miss games. Alonso played all 162 games in the last two seasons. Alonso is somewhat of a free agent risk as he is over 30 years old. If his power starts to wane, he doesn’t offer much more. Still, an improvement in on-base participation will help him get paid this offseason.
9. Jack Flaherty, Detroit Tigers, SP, can decline

Jack Flaherty has played for four different teams over the last three seasons, which included two separate stints with the Detroit Tigers. The the starting pitcher has a $20 million option for next season, and if he turns it down, he could start again. Regardless of where Flaherty fits in, however, he tends to produce.
Flaherty isn’t an ace, but he’s a really solid second or third option. He helped make the Tigers the winningest team in baseball a lot of 2025 season before their late-season collapse.
8. Ranger Suarez, Philadelphia Phillies, SP

The Phillies are at risk of being hit by free agency more than any other team this offseason. JT Realmuto narrowly missed out on this list, and the team’s best player will be discussed later. Ranger Suarez is also a free agent. Although Suarez doesn’t have great velocity, he maintains a low ERA each season because he has a variety of reliable pitches to throw and manages them all well.
7. Eugenio Suarez, Seattle Mariners, 3B

Eugenio Suarez had a wonderful contract year. Because of his domestic production, he was highly desirable at the trade deadline before he was sent to the Seattle Marinersand now they will be looking for him in free agency. Suarez finished the year with 49 home runs, which was the fifth most in baseball.
Suarez’s defense is on the wane, so he could get a shot in the future. He’s also 34 years old, so interested teams shouldn’t expect him to repeat his numbers from last season. His penchant for throwing out is also a concern. Regardless, Suarez was able to get paid in the offseason.
6. Kyle SchwarberPhiladelphia Phillies, DH

Year after year, Kyle Schwarber is among the league leaders in both home runs and walks. His plate discipline is elite, and when he swings, it often ends with the baseball being thrown over the outfield wall. The three-time All-Star had 56 home runs and 132 RBIs this season, both of which led the National League.
Schwarber’s days in the car are over. Still, he’s a favorite in Philly and could return to the Phillies. Philly was so close, but their core was getting old and wasn’t able to get the job done and become a World Series champion. An organizational change in direction is the only thing that would likely prevent a Schwarber-Phillies reunion.
5. Dylan CeaseSan Diego Padres, SP

Dylan Cease’s control breaks down a bit at times, leading to a high walk rate at times, but when he’s at his best, he’s nearly unhittable. Cease finished in the top five in Cy Young voting twice, but also led his league in walks twice. Unfortunately, he is having a bit of a down year with the San Diego Padres.
The Padres have regularly brought in stars in recent years before letting them go for financial reasons. It would come as no surprise that Cease is the next victim of that philosophy.

The Houston Astros have had quite a run. The team has reached at least the ALCS in seven of the last nine seasons, and Framber Valdez has been there for almost all of them. Valdez also spent most of his tenure as the team’s first or second pitching option. He made two All-Star appearances and became known for his ability to complete complete games.
Valdez has some question marks. Most notably, he may or may not have thrown it on purpose to his catcher, Cesar Salazar, last season. It was kind of a turning point in the wrong direction for the Astros’ season, and it could be part of the reason he’s headed to free agency, if he chooses to do so.

The Boston Red Sox handed Alex Bregman a three-year deal last offseason to fill Rafael Devers’ spot at third base. The decision ultimately led to the team trading Devers to the San Francisco Giants. Now, Boston needs to make sure the decision wasn’t for nothing. Bregman sat out the last two years his job in search of an even higher salary.
Bregman was only signed in February before last season. Expect the third baseman to be taken off the market a little faster.
2. Bo BichetteToronto Blue Jays, SS

Bo Bichette was leading the American League in hits before his late-season injury. A PCL issue cost him most of the playoffs, but the shortstop returned in time to help the Toronto Blue Jays come within one win of winning the World Series. After paying off Vladimir Guerrero Jr. not too long ago, it’s time for Toronto to give Bichet a big new contract.
As great as Bichet’s bat is, he doesn’t hit defensively at shortstop. However, he is back in the World Series lineup as a second baseman and that could very well be his long-term home.

The The Chicago Cubs traded for Kyle Tucker last offseason. He is now hitting the open market as a free agent. Tucker is clearly one of the best players in baseball. However, he has been bitten by the injury bug in each of the past two seasons, and that could scare off potential suitors.
Even so, Tucker will demand a huge contract this offseason. If he returns to form and can overcome his injuries, he will provide a bigger boost to the team signing than any other 2025-26 MLB free agent.
