Toronto agrees to $30 million contract with KBO MVP

The Toronto Blue Jays they’ve already had quite the offseason after losing in Game 7 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. One week after signing the former San Diego Padres pitcher Dylan terminated his contract for 7 yearsThe Jays added a rotation by signing a right-handed pitcher Cody Ponce. Ken Rosenthal and Jeff Passan were first in the news.
Ponce was one of the best free agents in this class as he dominated the KBO last season, posting a 1.89 ERA and a 17-1 record in 182 innings. The right-hander struck out an incredible 252 batters. Ponce should fill out the back end of the rotation for the Blue Jays. With Cease and Ponce pitching alongside Trey Yesavage, Kevin Gausman and Shane Bieber, the Jays will rely on their starting pitching to help them get back to the Fall Classic.
Ponce last played in the MLB with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He started three games in 2020 and two games in 2021 in a combined 20 appearances. He finished, in that time, with a career 5.86 ERA and 1.54 WHIP, striking out 48 hitters and walking 17 in 55.1 innings.
