Towns’ challenge to New York sparked a comeback against the Rockets



The New York Knicks produced one of their most epic comebacks in recent memory in a 108-106 victory over the Houston Rockets, overturning an 18-point deficit through a furious fourth quarter. Karl-Anthony Towns set the tone, returning with 25 points and a spirited fourth quarter in which the Knicks scored 33 points while holding the Rockets to just 15.

After the game, KAT detailed how he helped his team spark a comeback, claiming he challenged his teammates to shoot in the final period.

“I just challenged our team to start in the fourth as challengers. You know, we can win this game and I’ve seen us do it. KAT continued to explain his honor, claiming that the Knicks expected to come out and get a win in the final period.

“And I wanted to do my part to get a stop as well. And from that moment on, go ahead. It set the tone for our team and set the level of intensity that we had to play for because we expected to come out and win,” he explained.

KAT helped New York go on a decisive 14-2 run late in the fourth quarter, cutting Houston’s lead to two with just over three minutes left. But the Knicks were also helped the Rockets’ failure to convert shots.

Houston missed eight straight shots during the Knicks’ decisive push and finished with 20 turnovers that turned into 30 Knicks points. Regardless, if KAT set the tone, Jalen Brunson delivered the final blow.

The All-Star guard scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half, including a game-tying jumper and a pull-up that sealed the comeback. The Knicks will now play the Chicago Bulls.
