Trace Jackson-Davis is already imposing himself on the Raptors
In Raptors history, only five players have recorded a double-double in their debut, the last being none other than Kawhi Leonard in 2018. Most impressive are his 8 offensive rebounds, and he explains that you don’t need to know systems or your teammates to excel in this area.
“I’ve always had a rebounding instinct, whether it’s offensive or defensive: attack the rim, go to battle. At halftime, we said we were -1 or -2 on rebounds. So I just wanted to go in there and make an impact in any way I could. And I did.” confides after a successful debut.
The move from the Warriors to the Raptors is not a demotion for him and he is very happy to join a young and ambitious group, currently 4th in the East.
“Honestly, it’s a privilege. To go from a team like Golden State, a winning organization, to another winning organization, it’s great. I can’t complain.” he admits. “It’s a very good group here, very family-oriented. Coach Darko is a great coach. I’m just happy to be here, happy to get to work. Obviously, the trip made me a little tired, but I’ll get back in shape and be ready.”
