Veteran guard Trae Young is making his presence felt with the Wizards ahead of his debut. From watching the former Hawks All-Star grow up to Young becoming his teammate, Wizards rookie Tre Johnson made a quick connection.

A reporter asked Johnson how Young was doing influence helped him develop in the NBA as a rookie today, according to Joshua Valdez of ClutchPoints.

“Great passer. Great game IQ, especially when you see it from a different lens that’s not on the court now, you can actually see the whole floor, I’d say.” Johnson said. “I just give the pieces to guys when you come out or during timeouts. I get to just listen and pay attention because most of the things he talks about, the next play is going to be open or going to happen. It’s like having another coach on the sideline.”

Johnson scored a game-high 26 points in last week’s 119-115 loss to the Hornets.
