Trae Young is nearing his return to practice after recovering from injury

The Atlanta Hawks to have was without Tree Young from a 117-112 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 29 with a knee injury. It sounds like he might finally be back soon, as it looks like he’ll be taking part in training.

Young, who is 27, is ready to return to practice in the week leading up to the Dec. 18 game against the Charlotte Hornets. He is not allowed to play in that game, but the Hawks will evaluate the star point guard before making a final decision on his status.

“Emory Healthcare Update: Tree Young suffered a sprained right knee on Oct. 29 in Brooklyn. He continues to step up his rehab activities and is expected to return to practice next week. His status will be updated as needed.”

Young has only played in five games this season. In those contests, he averaged 17.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game while shooting 37.1% from the field and 19.2% from the three-point line. With the Hawks owning a 14-12 record and firmly in the mix in the Eastern Conference, getting the four-time All-Star back in the starting lineup would be a huge boost for Atlanta.

The Hawks are scheduled to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. Young will not participate in that match. Atlanta will once again have to rely on Dyson Daniels at the point guard position.

Having their star point guard back will be great for the Hawks. However, while he was outside, Trae Young was involved in all kinds of trade rumors. Maybe those rumors are true, but for now, the team is looking forward to his return to the field.
