Trae Young, Ja Morant, LaMelo Ball destroyed by insider amid trade frenzy

One of the emerging stories surrounding the NBA so far this year has been the trade rumors surrounding several key players in the league, including the Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant and Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball. Ball recently shot down a report about his desire to be traded, while Morant has already been suspended for a game this year for calling out the coaching staff after a loss.
An article with the details was recently published on ESPN.com the reluctance of some league executives when it comes to these players.
“The combination of pain in the a**, injury prone, it’s not that good anymore and the big contract is bad,” one scout said of Morant, per ESPN’s Tim McMahon and Bobby Marks.
“He’s been going down, down, down,” said a Western Conference general manager who did not want to be named. “I don’t know how much of it is motivation. You have to be able to look under the hood. I’m just not sure about his health.”
Meanwhile, league executives didn’t have glowing reviews of Ball either.
“He’s taking the same snaps now as he was in high school,” the West assistant coach said. “Nothing has changed. I actually thought at the beginning of the year he was giving more honest effort on defense, but on the offensive end it looks like nothing has changed.”
“Can I trust LaMelo in the playoffs and the games that matter at the end of the season?” the Eastern CEO wondered. “We just don’t know.”
Some vitriol was also directed at the Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Youngwho is currently injured.
“He’s just small and doesn’t play any defense,” the East scout said.
The Hawks have played well in Young’s absence, further fueling trade speculation surrounding the star.
Overall, it remains to be seen if any of these star spies, all of whom have at one point been viewed as the faces of their respective franchises, will be moved in the coming months.
