Trae Young returns to fit into the puzzle that grew without him
Good news for Atlanta: Trae Young he should return tonight against the Hornets, after six weeks of recovery. Playmaker injured his knee in an unfortunate collision with his team-mate Mohamed Gueye, and the staff apparently needed time to get him back up and running.
“Ice Trae” returned to individual training this weekend, before being seen during the Hawks’ warm-ups in recent days. The signals then followed one after the other: Tuesday’s clash with the Skyhawks (G-League), then a full training session with the first team yesterday. Enough to open the door to a comeback tonight in the first game of back-to-back games before hosting San Antonio tomorrow.
“It’s my knee, so it took a little longer than other injuries.”, thus he recalled the leader. “I feel good, and I’ll feel better and better as I continue to play. “I wouldn’t be allowed to come back anyway if my physical condition wasn’t good or even close to good.”
A redefining collective?
For a month and a half, Trae Young could watch his team grow without him. Jalen Johnson has grown, and “role players” love it Dyson Daniels or Nickeil Alexander-Walker raise your level.
The challenge for Quin Snyder is twofold: reintegrate his leader without disrupting what has worked, while continuing to maximize a group that has held the bar well in his absence, with a record of 15 wins and 12 losses.
“I see some really good things the team is doing and I want them to keep doing it.”summarized Trae Young. “There are times when we suffer, times when it seems like it’s harder for the guys, and when I want to make it easier for them. From day one, I’ve always felt like I’m just a piece of a big puzzle. I never thought I was the puzzle alone. I’m going to go back and do the same thing, just be another piece in this puzzle and try to fit in.”
