Trae Young shows off his Washington jersey after the trade announcement


As it is The Washington Wizards traded for Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawksthere’s no doubting the excitement around the team as they get a star guard who could immediately improve them. Doc Young broke his silence when he joined the Wizards, Sharing his enthusiasm, he would give fans a peek at his new jersey after the trade was made official.

With the deal made official on Friday and Washington trading CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert for Young, Young would take to social media and share a look at the jersey will wear in due course.

In a team press release, general manager Will Dawkins said how eager they are to welcome you four-time All-Star.

“We are excited to welcome Trae Young to the Washington Wizards,” said Dawkins. “It is a rare opportunity to acquire a player of Trey’s skill, accomplishments and age. Trey plays exciting basketball and brings a level of confidence and competitiveness that has set him apart in this league.”

With Wizards send a message with a young tradethere’s no doubt the 27-year-old’s recent stint with the Hawks has been frustrating. Although he has been the face of the franchise since joining the team out of college in 2018, his time has been filled with trade rumors and the team looking elsewhere more recently.

After the trade was made official Friday morning, Young would post on X, formerly Twitter, and admit that “the last few years haven’t been what I wanted them to be,” while also accepting “change” it’s coming.

“However, the pain of staying the same eventually outweighed the uncertainty of change. Change is often met with fear, but I see it as another opportunity,” Young wrote. “I enter this next chapter with my head held high and my eyes forward. It’s time to see what’s possible when the support is real and the vision clear. We’re moving.”

Young joins a Washington team looking to improve on its current 10-26 record.
