Trae Young welcomes Anthony Davis to Washington with an epic comeback
The The Washington Wizards are coming off a huge 126-117 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night, a victory that, due to circumstances, caused mixed feelings among fans. On the one hand, the Wizards’ young core showed up against the East-leading Pistons, and Will Riley emerged as a key part of this first-rate team. On the other hand, every win they get puts them in a worse position to land their first-round pick that would be dealt to the New York Knicks if they fall outside the top eight.
Still, the mood among Wizards fans is generally good, especially when the team is already playing much better even with Trae Young and Anthony Davis have yet to match up after Washington brought them in via blockbuster trades before the deadline.
Young and Davis are expected to take this new Wizards core in the making to the next level, and they already seem to be bonding off the court — and the former is even using return image to welcome his newest teammate.
Inevitably!

This photo was taken long before Young even arrived in the league in 2018. And now, all these years later, he’s teaming up with an NBA champion to try to pull a moribund franchise like the Wizards out of the basement.
Wizards swap assets, land two perennial All-Stars via trade

Regardless of how it may be sliced, The Wizards came out as one of the biggest winners 2026 NBA trade deadline Acquiring Young for the low, low price of CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert was always going to be worth it. And then to end up acquiring Davis for a package that didn’t even include any of their top young prospects or any of their own firsts?
No one should be surprised if the Wizards end up being the most improved team in the NBA next year, health permitting.
