Tree Young may be injured, but that didn’t stop him from helping families on Thanksgiving

The The Atlanta Hawks were up and down so far in the 2025-26 NBA season, currently 11-8 after a recent road loss to the Washington Wizards. Atlanta has played most of this season without point guard Tree Youngwho entered a week into the campaign with a sprained MCL, and while they looked strong at times, it was also made clear that they are better with their point guard on the floor.
Youngsters recently spread some holiday spirit when he helped in preparing a Thanksgiving meal for over 300 people in the Atlanta area, according to a video posted by the Hawks on X, formerly Twitter.
Young has long been known for his charitable endeavors, whether in Oklahoma, where he played his college basketball, or in Atlanta, where he spent his entire NBA career.
Meanwhile, the Hawks will certainly be hoping to get Young back on the floor sooner rather than later as their schedule struggles begin to mount over the next few weeks.
In Young’s absence, young power forward Jaylen Johnson has blossomed into a legitimate All-Star level player, and the team’s defense has certainly seen a noticeable uptick without having to cover Young’s weaknesses on that end of the floor.
On more than one occasion, though, the Hawks’ offense has stagnated in close games, which is certainly an area where Young’s presence can help significantly, especially in a potential playoff run — the Hawks hope to end a two-year postseason drought this year and break out of the playoff carousel that has defined them since the 2021-21 season.
Either way, the Hawks will next take the floor on Friday night at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers before hitting the road against the Philadelphia 76ers and Detroit Pistons.
