Trey Murphy sat out the Warriors with an elbow injury

The The New Orleans Pelicans have struggled this seasoncurrently at the bottom of the Western Conference standings at 3-16. The Pelicans are looking to get into the win column by visiting the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, but they will come up short. Pelicans ahead Trey Murphy III was dealing with an elbow injury and was turned off against the Warriors, according to ClutchPoint’s Brett Siegel.

Up until this point, Trey Murphy had been off the Pelicans’ injury report, and this would be his first game missed all season. The Pelicans have a back-to-back game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, and it remains to be seen if Murphy will be available for that game.

Amid the Pelicans’ brutal start to the year, Murphy has been a bright spot for the team. No. 17 overall in the 2021 NBA Draft. Murphy has shown star potential this year. So far, he has appeared in 19 games, with just over 35 minutes per game.

Murphy averaged 19.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.7 steals on 46 percent shooting from the field, 37.1 percent from the 3-point line and 92.9 percent from the free throw line. With the Pelicans having an extended period of mediocrity, Murphy reportedly attracted trade interest from opposing teams. But the Pelicans haven’t shown they’re willing to listen to any offer.

Murphy dealt with injury problems last season and had his year cut short by a shoulder injury.
