Tyler Herro will likely miss the entire five-game road trip following the results of an MRI
With Miami Heat in a big win over the Oklahoma City Thunder last Saturday, the team enters a five-game West Coast road trip with a ton of momentum, starting Monday against Jimmy Butler and the Golden State Warriors. However, the The Heat will be without Herro for the Warriors matchupand was supposed to get an MRI on Sunday and the results are worrying.
According to Ira Winderman of The Sun Sentinel, Herro’s MRI found on his ribs, which caused him to miss the Thunder’s win, discovered a costochondral issue. Described as “an ailment that is often a matter of pain tolerance, but can be very painful,” Herro is not expected to join the team for the five-game road trip.
It’s already been a frustrating season for the Miami guard as, including the possibility of him going on the road, he’ll miss 36 games this season. That includes missing the first 17 contests of the season with offseason ankle surgery, then missing significant time with a toe contusion, and now dealing with a rib problem.
Tyler HerroThe injury is not thought to be long-term for the Heat

Although it is The Heat are looking to capitalize on their win over the ThunderHerro’s absence has been a relative constant this season, with the number of games he has missed. Playing in 11 games so far, Hero is averaging 21.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from three.
Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra talked about Herro’s frustrating All-Star season the year before, even saying that this injury was not “long term.”
“I mean, the one at the beginning of the year, it was just something that comes in the season,” Spoelstra said of Hero’s injury-plagued season before the Oklahoma City contest. “You can’t control it, but there’s going to be day-to-day things that happen to everybody. We can’t necessarily look at them, because you’ve missed a big part of the first year where you’re going to have your normal things that happen in an NBA season. This shouldn’t be long-term, and we’re just going to continue to treat him and see how he reacts.”
Erik Spoelstra was asked about Tyler Hero missing his 31st game tonight, asked if it gets to a point where the team is moving forward through alternate routes:
“This shouldn’t be long-term. We’ll just keep treating him and see how he responds.”

Either way, it remains to be seen how much time Herro misses, but there’s no denying the frustration as his injury problems continue. Miami is 22-20 heading into a five-game road trip that begins Monday against the Warriors.
