Tyler Kolek’s wild message to Donovan Mitchell
New York Knicks reserve Tyler Kolek saved his team from a disastrous NBA Christmas. Although his team became the recipient of a dunk on the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell poster.
Mitchell introduced OG Anunoby of the Knicks in epic fashion. Still collect sent a message after that string after the game via Ian Begley of SNI Knicks.
“If he was running and laying down regularly, I wouldn’t have caught up with him — he wanted to do a little windmill,” Kolek said in the locker room.
That viscous layup came with less than 1:30 left as Mitchell cut the lead to 123-121.
Kolek and the Knicks, however, came away with the victory by erasing a 17-point deficit.

Kolek was even one assist away from a double-double off the bench. Head coach Mike Brown raved about the non-starters after the Knicks win.
“Our bench was fantastic,” Brown told reporters. “Our bench basically won it for us.”
Kolek, meanwhile, has embraced his role off the bench.
“When you’re a point guard, you’re an extension of the coach,” Kolek said of Brown. “If he’s trying to get his message across, he’ll tell you. Maybe he didn’t mean it for you, but he’s trying to get it across to everyone on the team.”
New York is now 21-9 overall this season, including improving to 15-2 at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks are also now three games back of the Eastern Conference leading Detroit Pistons with a 24-6 overall record.
