Tyrese Halliburton names two key players in his Achilles’ road to recovery
The Indiana Pacers have fallen on hard times during the 2025-26 season so far, and that’s largely due to the absence of injuries Tyrese Halliburton. Halliburton could not bear to tear the Achilles at the worst possible time, as he suffered that season-ending injury that usually keeps players out for the entire season in the biggest game of his career at that point — a Game 7 showdown against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2025 NBA Finals.
But at 25, Halliburton is expected to make a full recovery. Achilles’ tear isn’t what it used to be; Kevin Durant may be the biggest success story in NBA history, as Durant returned to superstar form despite missing the entire 2019-20 season.
The The Pacers star is not alone in his recovery, of course nor does he want to face this kind of adversity at the hands of his lonesome. He has asked for help from two fellow stars who suffered the same injury in Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics and Dejounte Murray of the New Orleans Pelicans.
“I think a good part of it was just having guys to lean on. Like, obviously I’m not the only guy going through this. Jayson (Tatum) has been huge for me. Dejounte Murray has been huge for me. (Dejounte) is a guy that I don’t have a previous relationship with, but we talk pretty often. He checks in on me when Hali Prime joins me all the time,” Hali Prime said. coverage.
“Jason (Tatum) was huge for me. Dejounte Murray was huge for me.”

The Pacers look set to bounce back in 2026-27 with the return of Tyrese Haliburton

The Pacers are currently 6-18. That’s a far cry from the 50-win campaign they had last season where they went all the way to the NBA Finals and pushed the mighty Thunder to seven games in the NBA Finals.
But with Halliburton set to return next season at full strength, the Pacers can dream again.
