Tyrese Martin sinks an unreal buzzer beater in the 3rd quarter against the 76ers

Brooklyn Nets fans have seen flashes of Tyrese Martin’s scoring potential beforebut Friday night added another memorable moment to his growing highlight reel. While the Nets ended up losing to the Philadelphia 76ers 115-103, Martin delivered a stunning sequence that shifted the energy of the Barclays Center into the final frame.
Against Philadelphia, when Brooklyn trailed with just seconds left, the 76ers held an 87-72 advantage. The most dramatic shot of the quarter came directly from Martin.
With the clock ticking down to zero, Martin received the ball with 3.7 seconds left and went into the rushes 3 far behind the line and buried it as time expired to end the quarter at 87-75. The creature, a veritable dagger of desperation, cut the deficit to 12 and instilled some faith in a team looking for a foothold in the game.

Despite the loss, head coach Jordi Fernandez gave meaningful context to Martin’s value in more than one shot. Fernandes pointed to Martin as a stabilization of presence in the rotation and locker room.
“He’s just a mature, stable person,” Fernandez said after the game, via Eric Slater of Clutchpoints. “You see that day in and day out and it’s reflected on the field. All the teammates trust him. We trust him. And he’s been part of our success as far as the competition is concerned… A guy who always leads by example. You always need an adult, and I know he’s not very old, but he’s a reliable person, and I think we’re trying to build something special for him as a star.
The 76ers, led by Tyrese Maxey’s 22 points and Jared McCain’s 20 points, regained control immediately after a mini-run by Brooklyn, closing the door on the comeback.
Next, the Nets travel to face the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum on Saturday, and if Martin continues to provide moments of stability and timely scoring, Brooklyn could quickly turn the unreal buzzer beater of a loss into the catalyst they need for a late-fall reset.
Jordi Fernandez had high praise for Tyrese Martin’s recent performance:
“He’s just a mature, steady person. You see that day in and day out and it shows on the field. All of his teammates trust him. We trust him. And he’s been a part of our success as far as the competition… The guy… pic.tvitter.com/GspMbvviKSN
