Tyrese McKay bails Philly out with a crazy game winner against the Kings

The Philadelphia 76ers (26-21) have too many injury questions and not enough room for error to squander safe wins. Well, they he was quite scared on Thursday at home against the lowly Sacramento Kings (12-37). Tyrese McKay had to unleash his offensive arsenal at the Xfinity Mobile Arena, and that was enough to send the crowd into a frenzy.

After tying the game at 111 at the free throw line, the two-time All-Star point guard drove to the basket for the strong finish on the edge with just 1.3 seconds left on the game clock. He pushed through the contact and lifted the Sixers to a 113-111 victory. Fans probably expected a simpler outing, but they got their money’s worth.

Maxey scored 40 points on 12-of-18 shooting with eight assists and four rebounds against the Kings. Fellow franchise Joel Embiid dropped 37 points and eight assists of his own. It’s a bit alarming that the 76ers needed their two best players to combine for nearly 80 points to survive one of the worst teams in the NBA, but head coach Nick Nurse will have all of Friday to examine Philly’s performance. He was probably relieved to be out of the building with V.
