Tyronn Lue talks about the rumors he and Chris Paul didn’t talk about

Sudden divorce from Los Angeles Clippers and future basketball Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul continues to be the talk of the town in the hoop realm.
Arguably the greatest player to ever put on a Clippers uniform, Paul seemed to have a bitter split with the Los Angeles franchise, and the reason for that is still far from 100 percent clear.
Among the rumors that have surfaced since Paul’s departure from the Clippers is that the head coach of the “Point God” and Los Angeles Tyronn Lue they didn’t talk before the veteran was shown the door.
However, Lue shot that rumor down during a press conference on Tuesday.
“That’s not true,” Lue told reporters when asked about it the rumor of his and Paul’s icy relationship (via Sports Illustrated’s Joey Linn).
“How is he going to play and I won’t talk to him? It was a stretch when he didn’t want to play and come out of the rotation, it was difficult for him because he is a competitor.”
For a team to part ways with an all-time great in such a sudden manner is always going to raise a few questions and rumors, and that seems to be the case after the Clippers’ decision to let Paul go.
Paul has already expressed his intention to hang up your sneakers in 2026leaving more questions about his short-term NBA prospects. Have fans seen Paul’s last NBA game yet? Or, will he sign with another team to give him one last shot before retirement?
Paul, a 12-time NBA All-Star, appeared in 16 games for the Clippers in the 2025-26 NBA season and averaged 2.9 points, 3.3 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 0.7 steals.
