Unstoppable, the Hornets fight with the Spurs!

After a generally balanced first quarter, Hornets opened a significant gap in the second, using a 20-4 run to end the period (61-47). Brandon Miller in particular is taking the heat in this “run”, with his 14 points in four minutes and the quality of his shooting causing chaos, while Victor Wembanyama is completely lost by an increasingly aggressive defense.

After a break, Spurs try to get going, finding a little more outside success, but Collin Sexton is there to answer Dylan Harper in this substitution matchup. Aggressive on the rebound, Moussa Diabate’s teammates held on, even as the margin dwindled to one possession as the clock ticked down, and it took the initiative of Myles Bridges and Brandon Miller to end the debates (111-106).

A more than encouraging success for Charlotteheaded by good Brandon Miller (26 points) and one each Collin Sexton sharp entry from the bench (21 points in 18 minutes), Doc Dylan Harper (20 points) shone in the opposition with Kon Knuepel, the other star rookie of the day.

In a French-French duel, Moussa Diabate (12 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists) took a Victor Vembanyama shy (16 points, 8 rebounds on 6/15). He notably missed a shot to tie the game at 109, after the umpires overturned the decision.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

And six for Charlotte. For the first time in almost ten years (March 2016), the Hornets have won six in a row, confirming their current excellent form. Their second-quarter rush, sparked by Brandon Miller, served to make the difference. But we also had to work hard in the second half, given Spurs’ fast-paced play, and the increase in their winning streak exemplified by the Champagne/Barnes duo.

Brandon Miller continues his momentum. It’s now ten games in a row with at least 20 points for Brandon Miller. Unlike Victor Wembanyama, the one who beat him in the 2023 draft, very uninspired this afternoon, the full-back was again his team’s (and the match’s) top scorer. Especially involved in a 20-4 run that put Charles Lee’s players in control at the end of the second quarter. Always so spontaneous and brash, he punished his defenders with his first intentions.
