Victor Vembanyama goes into true monk mode with a new hairstyle

The San Antonio Spurs have been a huge success so far in the 2025-26 season, currently sitting at 27-13 despite a recent road loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Spurs still beat Oklahoma City on three separate occasions this season and are running Victor Vembanyama back to his normal amount of minutes after a recent injury sidelined him for several weeks.

On Thursday, Wembanyama turned up at Spurs training which it seemed shaved head, which raised eyebrows.

The new look brought back memories for some of Vembanyama’s time during the offseason at a temple in China, where he trained with monks in preparation for the season.

The training seems to have paid off so far, as Vembanyama has continued his status as a terror on both ends of the floor, far and away the best defender in the NBA at this early stage of his career and continues to add to his offensive game while also improving his shooting diet to drain threes and do more damage around the basket.

The Spurs have also gotten great play from their trio of Dylan Harper, De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle so far this season. While Harper has seemed to hit a rookie wall in recent weeks, there’s still no doubting his viability as a long-term prospect, and Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson has been impressive in his ability to juggle three small guards in his rotation without sacrificing anything in terms of style of play.

As mentioned earlier, the Spurs are currently 14 games over the .500 mark and in prime position to secure one of the top seeds in the Western Conference. They will next take the floor Thursday night at home against the Milwaukee Bucks.
