Victor Wembanjama and Spurs complete a perfect pre-season
Five games, five wins. The Spurs completed a perfect preseason with another success (133-104) against the Pacers and, even if this remains a preseason game, Mitch Johnson’s squad can be satisfied.
Ahead of their first regular season matchup against the Mavericks on Wednesday, the Spurs wowed the Frost Bank Center during this final warm-up against the reigning finalists.
With 17 points on 7/9 shooting, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks in 24 minutes, Victor Vembanyama impressed again, in a slightly different role than last season. More powerful, “Wemby” is thus served closer to the circle than last season, and he obviously tries harder to go to the basket. He only killed three.
Defensively, however, he remains an incredible lightning rod, his size disrupting anyone who engages in the Spurs racket. His only downfall is in passing, where he is put more in a creative role and still tends to look for overly complicated passes.
Other good news for San Antonio: good form Julian Champagnewho finishes with 15 points on 5/6 from long range and could help the Spurs solve some of their spacing issues!
