The Oklahoma City Thunder will have an extra chip on their shoulder when they host San Antonio Spurs on Christmas Day. Fortunately for the Spurs, Victor Vembanyama he already knows that.

The Spurs dominated the Thunder130-110, at the Frost Bank Center on Tuesday, handing the defending champions two of their four losses since being eliminated in the NBA Cup semifinals.

San Antonio and Oklahoma City will have a third meeting on Wednesday, and it’s in Vembanyama more than ready when they go to the Paicom center.

“They (the Thunder) are going to be locked in, probably more than ever before,” Wembanyama said. “But we’ll be there.”

The two-time All-Star had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes off the bench against OKC.

The Spurs improved to 22-7, including 7-2 at home.

Vembanjama has played well since returning from a calf injury that kept him out for several weeks. His first return came against the Thunder in the NBA Cup semifinals, helping the Spurs reach the final round of the season for the first time, while also ending Oklahoma City’s 16-game winning streak.

OKC fans are also expected to be fired up, especially after San Antonio fans showered Shai Gilgeous-Aleknader with “flopper” chants on Tuesday. The current MVP had 33 points, three rebounds and eight assists.

Spurs have had the Thunder’s number so far, and Vembanjama certainly wants to keep it that way.

It will be his second time playing on Christmas Day. To recall, the dominant youngster had a memorable performance in his debut on Christmas Day 2024, recording 42 points and 18 rebounds in a loss to the New York Knicks.
