VJ Edgecombe’s injury update for the NBA Cup game against the Pistons

The Philadelphia 76ers were surprisingly among the top teams in the Eastern Conference with a 7-4 record just a month into the regular season. A big reason for The 76ers’ solid play was rookie point guard VJ Edgecombeeven though he appeared on the team’s injury report before theirs NBA Cup game against the Detroit Pistons.

VJ Edgecombe was officially listed as suspicious on the 76ers’ injury report for the NBA Cup game against the Pistons, according to the NBA’s official injury list. It is listed to deal with back spasms. Edgecombe has yet to miss a game this season, although the month of November was a little quieter for him than when he started the season.

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Edgecombe looked like an early favorite for the league’s Rookie of the Year award. Those talks have since cooled following his own appeasement.

Edgecombe has appeared in all 11 games for the 76ers thus far, logging just over 37 minutes per game. He averaged 15.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.4 steals on 40.9 percent shooting from the field, 36.2 percent from the three-point line and 75.9 percent from the free throw line.

The 76ers’ strong start has coincided with other injury problems. Paul George has yet to make his season debut as he continues to recover from a knee injury. Joel Embiid has also been in and out of the lineup as well with a knee injury going back to last season, but his absences were part of his team management plan.
