Vladimir Guerrero Jr. sends a powerful message to Toronto before Game 7
There are no two bigger buzzwords in North American professional sports than “Game 7.” But for both Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners, anxiety levels are about to go through the roof, with the former forcing a decisive seventh game after taking a 6-2 win in Game 6 of their ALCS clash against the latter on Sunday night.
It’s an incredible show of guts for the Blue Jays to be able to force a Game 7, with rookie Trey Yesavage stepping up and silencing a Mariners offense that seems to get every hit necessary to win. But the Blue Jays offense had to do its part to support their pitching corps as well, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. supports his team’s efforts by hitting a solo shot in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 5-0.
Guerrero, who is proving to be a big player as he now holds the Blue Jays’ all-time record for home runs in a single postseason, vowed to at least have another heroic game left in it.
“I’ll give everything I’ve got for the city. I’ll give everything I’ve got for the fans,” Guerrero told Sportsnet’s Hazel Mae after the Blue Jays’ Game 6 victory.

There has been quite a turnaround for the Blue Jays this year; it wasn’t even a foregone conclusion that Guerrero would stay with the team beyond the 2025 season given how fraught contract negotiations between the two sides appeared to be.
But now, with the Blue Jays treating Guerrero like he’s a franchise cornerstone, the 26-year-old is giving back some of the best baseball of his life. Now, Toronto needs to be the hero once again so they can return to the World Series for the first time since 1993.
Blue Jays unsung heroes come alive in Game 6 win over Mariners

Guerrero is expected to lift the team to great heights, and Yesavage is drawing plenty of headlines for his heroics on the mound in Game 6. But it was the unsung heroes for Toronto who stepped up and proved to be difference makers.
It was Addison Barger who basically blew the game wide open for the Blue Jays with Logan Gilbert’s two-run home run, and he opened the scoring for Toronto as well when he drove in Daulton Warshaw with a single.
Could Barger be the Blue Jays’ next cult hero? It will certainly be special if the Blue Jays end up making it to the World Series.
