Warriors, hornets among Bobby Portis’ trade suitors

The NBA world is ripe with trade rumors counting down the days until the Feb. 5 deadline. There is only a little less than a month left, one name that has been circulating in the Milwaukee Bucks big man Bobby Portis is the subject of NBA trade rumorsaccording to ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel. Among the teams reportedly interested in trading Bobby Portis are Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Hornets.

As it is NBA trade deadline approach, the Bucks are reportedly on the market as buyers, looking to upgrade the team in try to convince Giannis Antetokounmpo that his best bet is to stay with the franchise. In that way, Portis could be the player the Bucks would have to move as a precursor to a bigger trade. In addition to the Warriors and Hornets, the Phoenix Suns are also reportedly monitoring the situation in terms of a potential Portis trade.

Amid a disappointing first few months of the season, Portis was a consistently solid player which would no doubt help a struggling team during the playoffs. For a Hornets team that has seemingly turned things around amid full health, his veteran presence would be a nice balance to their young core. And for the Warriors, he would help solidify the team’s depth for the second half of the season.

Portis has appeared in 36 games this season, including five starts, logging just over 23 minutes per game. He is averaging 13.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists on 49 percent shooting from the field, 47.3 percent from the 3-point line and 74.4 percent from the 3-point line.

As mentioned earlier, if Portis is traded, it would likely be in a suitable move. As Siegel reported, the Bucks’ main path to a major upgrade would likely involve Kyle Kuzma.
