Warriors in search of size and physical impact in the racket
It’s no secret that the Warriors lack size and muscle under the rim. Al Horford has played only two matches in a month and other options below the circle (Quinten Post, Trace Jackson-Davies…) offer too little deterrence, whereas Draymond Green it can no longer fill in all the blanks.
The team, currently 9th in the West (13-15), is 28th in defensive rebounds.
“Sometimes we are small on the field, but we have to play bigger than we are”demanded Stephen Curry after the loss to the Blazers.
Without much surprise, “insider” Chris Haynes explains that Golden State is looking for a pivot to try to plug some holes, and the Bay franchise would have three names in mind.
First of all Daniel Gaffordwhich is fully transferable to Dallas and which is also in the sights of the Pacers. It also exists Nic Clactonwhile Brooklyn is in total reconstruction and no one is untouchable. Finally, the third name is Robert Williamsan interesting but very fragile Portland pivot.
With a good offer, all three paths are within reach for Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. It remains to be seen what he is willing to give up or take advantage of (Jonathan Cumminga?) to achieve that, but Golden State intends to give Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler a competitive enough team to approach the end of the season with real ambition.
