Watch as Dallas fans celebrate Luka Doncic’s return to the American Airlines Center

It’s been almost a year since The Dallas Mavericks trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. It was a controversial move that was poorly received by fans, who loved the Slovenian superstar. This was seen in Doncic’s first game in Dallas as a Laker, where the fans warmly welcomed us during the game.
That love for Dončić has not faded a bit. Doncic returned to the American Airlines Center for the second time since being traded. Despite the fact that the Lakers star received the usual guest appearance, the Slovenian superstar was still greeted with a standing ovation from the fans present.

Doncic also heard MVP chants from the Mavericks crowd.

The Doncic trade is probably the biggest trade the NBA world has seen in recent history. Most stars change when they are nearing the end of their prime, if they have expressed dissatisfaction with their team or if they have not seen great results. Doncic was still in the middle of his prime, openly saying he wanted to retire with the Mavericks, and Dallas exiting the Finals. By all accounts, things looked good, which made the Doncic trade even more stunning.
Now the Mavericks are suffering the consequences of their actions. The Mavs returned Anthony Davis and Max Christie in the trade. Christie has been a solid starter for Dallas, and Davis, when healthy, continues to be a force on defense. However, Davis continues to struggle with injuries, and rumors of a Davis trade are already swirling less than a year after acquiring him. The Mavericks are just 19-26 entering the game against the Lakers.
Doncic, meanwhile, is thriving in the Lakers. The former first-round pick of the Mavericks is averaging a solid 33.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game as the Lakers battle for first place in the Western Conference.
