Watch Russell Westbrook and Giannis Antetokounmpo tangle at Bucks-Kings

Russell Westbrook he’s been a streaky shooter throughout his future NBA Hall of Fame career and is prone to turnovers at times, but fans can always count on him to provide intensity. Sacramento Kings guard rose to level in Saturday’s 135-133 win Milwaukee Bucks (4-2), deciding to match his physical strength with imposing Giannis Antetokounmpo during tested string in the third quarter.
When the Greek Freak found an opening and headed for the basket, Westbrook wrapped it around with one hand while catching the ball with the other. Sure enough, a foul was called, but neither man was up after the whistle. Antetokounmpo tried to shake off his fellow former MVP award winner by shaking his 6-foot-11 frame forward. Westbrook maintained his grip and the two tangled men pushed their way through the out-of-bounds area under the basket.
Eventually, the order was restored and Antetokounmpo headed to the free throw line. Neither the Kings nor anyone else wants 2021 NBA Finals MVP to build momentum by dunking. Sacramento was clearly focused on preventing one of the game’s best players from getting straight-up buckets. Westbrook may have gotten a little overzealous, leading to some brief extracurricular activities.

The tenacious 36-year-old was all smiles in the end, as the Kings (2-4) earned their first road win of the season. Despite shooting just 4 of 14 from the field, Russell Westbrook had a double-double of 12 points and 10 assists (adding two steals), while Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Domantas Sabonis and Dennis Schroder each scored 24 points or more.
The offensive explosion was strong enough to survive the 26 points, 11 boards and eight assists that Giannis Antetokounmpo posted on Fiserv Forum. Sacramento will need to stay on when it travels to the Mile High City for a date with the Denver Nuggets (3-2). Expect Westbrook to stay fired up when he faces his former team on Monday.
