Watch Victor Wembanyama get his 1st rebound from injury in the NBA Cup

Victor Vembanyama made his first at-bat since returning from injury in San Antonio NBA Cup semi-final match between the Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night.

Vembanjama is going through the third season of his career with Spurs. He had a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign before suffering a calf strain on November 14 that kept him out for a month.

The star big man is back on the court in the Spurs’ NBA Cup showdown against the NBA’s best Thunder team. His presence became crucial when he came off the bench to start the evening, making his first dunk back in the opening minute of the second quarter.

It was an incredible highlight for Victor Vembanyama in his comeback as the Spurs led 49-46 at halftime.

San Antonio started the game slowly, falling behind 31-20 after the first quarter. Despite the deficit of as many as 16 points, the Spurs responded with a huge run and reduced the deficit to three.

Ball movement, turnovers and fast breaks affect the match. The Thunder have the advantage in three categories by dishing out 10 assists, limiting their turnovers to just seven and scoring 11 points on the fast break. The Spurs lose in all three because they have seven assists, 11 turnovers and four fast breaks.

No one has yet reached double figures for San Antonio. Stefon Castle leads with nine points and three rebounds. De’Aaron Fox followed with eight points and three assists, while Harrison Barnes, Devin Vassell and Dylan Harper scored six points each. Meanwhile, Vembanyama has five points, five rebounds, two steals, one assist and a block.

If they win, the Spurs will look forward to the NBA Cup championship game against the New York Knicks on December 16. If they lose, they will return home to host the Washington Wizards on December 18th at 8pm ET.
