What Jason Kidd had to say about singing before Nico Harrison got shot

Dallas Mavericks fans chanting “Shoot Nobody” during the team’s home game at the American Airlines Center on Monday against the Milwaukee Bucks looks like they’re getting what they wanted a long time — or since Luka Doncic was shockingly traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in February.
The Mavericks are reportedly expected to fire Harrison as the team’s general manager.
On Monday, fans loudly voiced their disapproval of Harrison during the fourth quarter of the Bucks’ game. Despite Dallas eventually winning the 2025 NBA lottery and selecting Duke Blue Devils star Cooper Flagg as the top pick in the class, it apparently wasn’t enough to quell the anger Mavericks fans have for Harrison.
It didn’t help Harrison that Dallas is off to a rough start to the 2025-26 NBA season. They are 3-8 after a 116-114 loss to Milwaukee, which further fueled the fiery emotions of Dallas fans. The Mavs had a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter, but that quickly disappeared as Antetokounmpo and Kyle Kuzma combined to show the Bucks a come-from-behind victory.
After the loss to Milwaukee, the head coach of the Mavericks Jason Kidd addressed “Fiery Nico Sings” echoed through Dallas’ home.
“It’s noise, and so I would say, speaking for them, I think you just keep playing,” Kidd said during the postgame press conference.
Obviously, it was more than noise. It was an answered prayer for those who have longed for a change in the Mavericks’ front office, especially at the general manager position, since the Doncic trade, which also involved oft-injured big man Anthony Davis.
It will be interesting to see what kind of landscape the Mavericks have in the post-Nico Harrison era Dallas is currently far from NBA title contender status. His record is second-worst in the Western Conference, and his minus-6.3 differential is fourth-worst in the conference through 11 games. Then, of course, there is the question of who will succeed Harrison as the Mavericks’ new general manager? Either way, Harrison’s successor will have an intriguing situation to contend with.
