What Mike McDaniel had to say about De’Von Achane’s injury scare



The Miami Dolphins won their fourth straight in Week 14 with a 34-10 upset over the New York Jets, but the win was overshadowed Star running back De’Von Achane is injured. Head coach Mike McDaniel he acknowledged the concern after the game, but noted it wasn’t as serious as he first feared.

McDaniel said Achane was “injured” but could re-enter the game “in an emergency.” He added that he was his choice to keep his star on the sidelines 24-point exhaust.

“We looked into it,” McDaniel said in his postgame presser. “He was injured but could come back in an emergency… He was available to come back; I just decided not to put him in.”

Achan suffered the injury at the end of a 29-yard run. He appeared to be thin after taking a low hit, but his injury was reported to be a rib problem.

Achane was on his way to a career game before going out, amassing 105 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on just eight touches. He completed seven carries for 92 yards and a score while making his only catch for 13 yards.

The third year back continued what it was best run of his career before going down. Achane now has five straight games with at least 100 yards.

The Dolphins turned to rookie Ollie Gordon II and second-year speedster Jalen Wright after Achen’s injury. Both Gordon and Wright hit the ground after Achain left the game, with the latter having 24 carries for a career-high 107 yards.
