What would it take to get Cullen Deboer
The biggest shock in college football coaching was what just happened with Michigan football program. In a shocking turn of events, Moore was fired for cause at Michigan over an alleged relationship with the staffand in doing so, completely turned the college football landscape upside down. Now, it’s about who the Wolverines end up replacing him with.
College football reporter and insider Bruce Feldman wrote a long story about what to expect from Michigan’s coaching search. The biggest name to talk about Cullen DeBoerthe current head coach of the Alabama football team. Feldman said he and his family really love Tuscaloosa, but if Alabama loses to Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff, then the pressure could increase and lead DeBoer to look elsewhere.
Feldman said, “We heard that he and his family really like it in Tuscaloosa, but if With Alabama exiting the CFP early, would it be wise to consider a reset on Big Ten blue bloods with a highly touted sophomore quarterback and some talented young talent already in place? DeBoer’s general manager at Alabama, Courtney Morgan, played and worked as a GM at Michigan.
There were rumors that Penn State initially reached out to DeBoer during the coaching search, but Feldman said there was never any truth to them. However, the Michigan job could be something else entirely for him if he’s interested.
Michigan, being in the Midwest, is much more in line with DeBoer’s roots than Alabama in the South, but that may not matter if the Crimson Tide keep winning.
There are more candidates being discussed for the Michigan football job than DeBoer, but he is the biggest name. Washington head coach Jed Fish, Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham, and more have also been rumored for the Ann Arbor opening.
The Wolverines may want DeBoer the mostbut it will be difficult to lure him away from Alabama, as the Crimson Tide can match what is being offered salary-wise.
