When can Mike Evans return from painful injury?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers they were stomped by the Detroit Lions, 24-9, on Monday, and suffered an even bigger blow after losing their hold. Mike Evans to injury to the clavicle.

Evans was taken to the locker room in the second quarter after being intercepted by cornerback Rok Ja-Sin. Evans also suffered a concussion after hitting his head on the turf. He struggled to get up and lay on the ground for several minutes.

It was a painful development for the 32-year-old Evans, who was playing in his first game since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 3.

For what it’s worth, the Buccaneers could bring him back in time before the playoffsaccording to Greg Auman of Fox Sports.

“The hope for the Bucs with Mike Evans’ broken collarbone is a 6-8 week recovery schedule, probably on the longer side of that. That would get him back at the end of the regular season and into the playoffs. Breaks his streak, but hopefully he can return at some point,” Auman wrote.

Evans is the only player in league history to record at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first 11 seasons. He was on pace to break NFL legend Jerry Rice’s record for most consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards before the unfortunate slump occurred.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport echoed the sentiment regarding Evans’ possible return, which should ease fans’ concerns.

“If Mike Evans is out of the regular timeline with this injury, that puts him back in early or mid-December. Plenty of time for the playoffs,” Rapoport said.

The six-time Pro Bowler’s extended absence will leave a huge void for the Buccaneers. While they’ve played well without him in recent weeks, they could be hard-pressed to sustain the offense once the competition heats up ahead of the playoffs.

The Buccaneers fell to 5-2 after the gift to the Lions. They will look to bounce back in Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
