When will Jeremy Sochan debut in New York?
The New York Knicks delivered a big one NBA free agency move after the trade deadline. Jeremy Sochan chose The Knicks over 10 different NBA suitors on Thursday per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Now comes the next question: when Mike Brown put a veteran in the Knicks rotation?
Knicks insider for The New York Post Stefan Bondi revealed the timetable for Socan’s Knicks debut.
“Jeremy Sochan is expected to join the Knicks on Monday and will be available Thursday against the Pistons, first game back from All-Star break, sources say,” Bondi posted on the X social network, formerly Twitter. I heard that the opportunity to play for a contender with veteran leadership was important to Socan.
How Jeremy Sochan landed with the Knicks
Juicy, again arrives in New York as a rare free agent moving ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend. He’s also going to the Knicks as a no-trade.
The San Antonio Spurs decided to release him – which led to his arrival at the Knicks.
Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson did not proactively play the 22-year-old Socan. He even got a combined 49 minutes of action during the month of January.
Socan was once a top 10 pick in the NBA draft for the Spurs when Gregg Popovich coached the franchise. The Pole eventually made the league’s All-Rookie team in 2022-23 after averaging 11 points a night.
The 6-foot-8 forward raised his PPG to 11.6 during his second NBA campaign. But his numbers dipped slightly to 11.4 and he also played just 54 games.
He settled for just 4.1 PPG in 28 games this season. Socan has also watched his rebounding decline — from 6.5 RPG in 2024-25 to 2.6 this season. But he will add depth up front to NIK during its bid for the franchise’s first Eastern Conference title since the 1999 season.
