Where the former Alabama QB could land

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe was a real prospect at the start of the season and has remained so as he prepares to enter 2025 NFL draft.

Milro has had plenty of head-turning moments throughout the season, perhaps the most accomplished in his performance during a win over Georgia that looked like the Crimson Tide would be racing the Bulldogs at one point. He finished that game 27-for-33 passing for 374 yards and two touchdowns in the air, along with one interception.

He also recorded 117 yards and two touchdowns on the ground on 16 carries. Some called him the best quarterback in the SEC with the potential to be the best in the nation at the time, though that sentiment didn’t continue down the stretch when Milroe played inconsistently.

So is Milro underrated or overrated, and what could be next for him? Here’s a look at how it could all play out going forward.

Jalen Milroe 2025 NFL Draft Projection

There have been some who believe Milro should play another year of college football to develop as a pure passer, which would likely be in his best interest as an overall prospect. Milro projects as a player who can become a true dual threat, but he’s not quite there yet and it’s only going to get harder as he moves to the next level.

But, the the same could be said for former Texas quarterback Quinn Evers. There’s a common thread there — this quarterback class is weak, and there’s a chance both players could be drafted higher in the 2025 NFL Draft than they would be in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Milro sits well in most mock drafts, with many projecting him to be a first-round pick, possibly in the top 10 picks. But he’s also something of a wild card, as other audiences predict he could fall in the third round.

The NFL is still a quarterback-starved league in 2025, and there will be several teams in the running for Milroe in the first round. Here’s a look at the three teams Milroe could end up with.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders hold the No. 6 overall pick in the first round of the draft and are expected to use the pick to find replacements for Gardner Minshaw and Aidan O’Connell. None of these players seem to have what it takes to get the team to where it needs to be from a passing game perspective, and the Raiders are in position to move forward with a new quarterback of the future.

It’s easy to get the feeling that as soon as history-making Brock Bowers has a true pass-catching signal caller, this offense could fail in a big way. Could Milroe, with his running ability and time to improve as a passer, be the missing piece in this puzzle? we will see.

Cleveland Browns

Do we like Jalen Milroe as a second rounder? Technically, there’s a chance the Browns could take him in the first round, and that’s been an accurate projection in some mock drafts. However, there is also the idea that Milro could be available in the second round.

Depending on how things pan out, Cleveland could actually take the former Crimson Tide quarterback with the 33rd overall pick. Regardless, things look bleak at quarterback for the Browns after Deshaun Watson once again tore his Achilles tendon in 2024. He missed a large portion of the 2024 season and could miss all of 2025 as well.

Enter Milroe? Maybe.

New York Giants

Few teams face a serious quarterback problem the way the New York Giants do as they prepare to move on Daniel Jones in what appears to have been a long time coming.

And, just like the Browns, there were projections of the Giants using a first- or second-round pick on Milroe. The chips will fall as far as they can in terms of any potential slippage. The Pro Football Network even has the Giants taking Milroe in the third round.

“After looking like a potential KB1 midway through the CFB season, Milroe’s confidence, accuracy and overall game went off a cliff in the second half,” the network wrote. “However, few players in college football have been more dangerous with the ball in their hands, and Milro should at least see the field in offensive package sets in 2025 as he develops as a quarterback while fixing the mechanical tension in his throwing motion.”

Failing that, he has the frame density, explosiveness and vision to potentially be one of the most dangerous running backs in the league. But this is a talent that should fail in that role.”
