Which song did San Antonio drop after snapping the Thunder’s 16-game winning streak

The San Antonio Spurs, with Victor Vembanjama back from a 12 game absence, beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-109ending the Thunder’s 16-game winning streak in the NBA Cup semifinals on Saturday.

Celebrating the win, San Antonio went into full party mode with Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” roaring in the locker roomaccording to Tim McMahon of ESPN.

Oklahoma City entered the matchup 24-1, riding the league’s second-longest winning streak behind the Golden State Warriors’ 25-1 start in 2015-16. The Thunder last lost to the Portland Trail Blazers, 121-119, on Nov. 5, and entered the semifinals after a 49-point loss to the Phoenix Suns in the quarterfinals. On Saturday, however, Spurs showed that they are not to be underestimated.

Vembanyama, recovering from a strained left calf, came off the bench for the first time in his 130-game NBA career. He bounced back in the first quarter, during which San Antonio trailed 31-20. The 21-year-old entered the game early in the second quarter, and the Spurs got a much-needed boost, going on a 9-2 run before closing the half on a 13-0 run. By halftime, San Antonio pulled within 46-49, as Vembanyama posted an incredible +20 plus-minus in just seven minutes on the floor.

The 7-foot-4 French phenom finished the night with 22 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two assists in 21 minutes. The difference he made was clear, as San Antonio outscored Oklahoma City by 21 points when Wembanyama was on the floor and was better with 19 when he was off the floor. His presence forced OKC into tough shooting, holding them to 41.3% from the field and just 24.3% on 37 three-point attempts.

Helping carry the load along with Vembanjam, Devin Vassell scored 23, and Stephon Castle and De’Aaron Fox each added 22. Luke Cornett was stellar on defense, including a key block in the final minutes. For the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a game-high 29 points on 23 shots, and Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren added 17 points each.

The game was tight down the stretch, with Vembanyama again making a final push in the last five minutes. A strategic foul prevented Oklahoma City from making a tying three in the final seconds, allowing the Spurs, who trailed by 16 points in the second quarter, to escape with a two-point victory.

With the victory, San Antonio advanced to the finals of the NBA Cup, where they will meet the New York Knicks on Tuesday at 8:30 PM ET. Although the NBA Cup does not affect regular season records, the championship will determine significant financial rewards for players.
