While Rivers refutes the notion that Giannis suffered a ‘non-contact’ injury

The Milwaukee Bucks endured a rollercoaster night in a 113-109 comeback win over the Detroit Pistons (17-5), but the most alarming moment it came only three minutes into the game.
Their star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo fell to the floor as he ran back to the defenseimmediately grabbing his right leg. The two-time MVP was forced to leave the game what the team later diagnosed as “right calf”.
After the win, head coach Doc Rivers addressed the game, dismissing the idea that Antetokounmpo simply left untouched. Rivers explained it included string “contact” before Giannis lost his balance.
“I don’t think it was any contact either,” Rivers said during the postgame presser, via Eric Nehm of the The Athletic. “I thought the impact, if you’re looking, the jolt, that’s what knocked him off balance. That’s when he hit himself and then someone landed on him, so I thought the impact was what made him lose his balance. And then it looked like no one was around, but I thought the impact knocked him off balance.”

Antetokounmpo did not return to the game, finishing with two points, one rebound and one assist before going to the locker room alone.
For the team that is navigation of turbulence both on and off the fieldearly signs that Giannis may have avoided a catastrophic injury provide some relief. However, Milwaukee will now await further imaging to determine an exact timeline for Antetokounmpo’s return.
Despite losing their star, Milwaukee (10-13) rallied behind strong performances from Kevin Porter Jr., who poured in 26 points. Meanwhile, Ryan Rollins added 22 and Jericho Sims had a career-high 15 points and 14 rebounds as the Bucks erased an early 27-9 deficit to get within three by halftime.
