Why Anthony Davis’ camp is aggressively pushing for a Mavericks trade

Recently, the The Dallas Mavericks are in the envelope in the trade rumors surrounding the star big man Anthony Daviswho was in and out of the lineup this year due to injury. The speculation arose as the franchise turned its full attention to the number one overall pick draft pick Cooper Flaggwho is currently in the driver’s seat for the Rookie of the Year award.

Now more information is coming out about why Davis and his team are so adamant about getting the trade out of Dallas.

“…league sources say Davis’ representatives do not believe there is a contract extension with the Mavericks this coming offseason. As such, sources say, there is a strong desire from Davis’ camp to trade him to a destination where they believe an extension would be more likely,” reported Christian Clark and Sam Amick of The Athletic.

They also added that “league sources say (Rich) Paul has already encouraged the Mavericks to be more aggressive in evaluating Davis’ current market.”

Indeed, Rich Paul has never been shy about pressuring teams to get their clients where he wants them, and in the NBA, money certainly talks.

At this point, it’s unclear what destination Davis’ team may have in mind. Some reports have suggested that the Atlanta Hawks could be a potential trade suitor for Davis, but those talks seem to have cooled in the past few days, especially given new developments on the Trae Young front.

Still, it doesn’t seem like it will be long until Davis is in a new uniform.
