Why Billy Donovan really hopes Zach Collins returns next season

on Saturday, Chicago Bulls they received terrible news. Center Zach Collins he will be out for the rest of the season. The reason is due to a long-term injury to the toe it will require surgery.

Before the game against the Detroit Pistons, the head coach Billy Donovan expressed a wish for Collins to return next season. He is playing out the final year of his contract, according to the Chicago Bulls.

“I think there are two sides,” Donovan said. “When a guy is in free agency, there’s a financial part of it, and then there’s the player, the make-up, the character. It’s hard for me, just because I’m not talking to a lot of people, to know exactly what the man’s value is, so to speak, financially.”

“I know from my perspective, that (value) is about winning. (When) he’s healthy and when he’s out there, he’s a really good player for us, and I really like him. So, from that standpoint, I hope everything works out for him to come back here next year because I have a lot of respect for him as a teammate and his mental worker.”

Collins is playing out what remains of his two-year, $34.8 million contract. It was the contract he signed with the San Antonio Spurs. A deal later accepted by the Bulls.

Collins played ten games this season. He averaged 9.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. His last appearance was against the Milwaukee Bucks on December 27th. Collins had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in the 112-103 loss.
