Why Jason Kidd thought Nico Harrison’s chant was ‘disrespectful’

Fans on Dallas Mavericks made their wish come true afterwards Nico Harrison was fired as general manager on Tuesday amid the team’s miserable start to the season.

It was a the growing clamor to fire Harrison after trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Now that he’s gone, the fans are expecting a better vision for the Mavericksespecially with team owner Patrick Dumont promising to right their wrongs.

On Wednesday, coach Jason Kidd admitted that he didn’t appreciate it “Fire Nico!” chant during their games, as reported by ClutchPoints’ Joey Mistretta.

“It was a little disrespectful. Because the guys are playing hard and trying to win. So with that chant when we shoot the free throw, it’s very disrespectful, but realizing that they got their point across, the fans. But we have to move forward,” Kidd said.

He also emphasized that the players are working consistently despite injuries and problems plaguing the team. He called on the fans to give more support.

“I understand the healing process for the fans, but these guys play hard,” Kidd added.

“Ever since the trade, these guys have been giving it their all. A lot of times we didn’t get credit for playing hard and finding a way to get into the game. I hope we start getting some credit for that.”

With Harrison gone, vice president of basketball operations Michael Finley and assistant general manager Matt Riccardi have been named interim general managers while the team searches for a replacement.

The Mavericks are 3-8 before facing the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
