Why Kevin Durant ‘thanks God’ for the NBA’s salary cap rules
The Houston Rockets have been up and down lately, currently sitting at 38-22 after a recent close road win via the Washington Wizardss. The Solid construction of the rocket roster he’s allowed them to stay afloat despite playing largely without Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams this year.
Roster construction has been a topic of debate in the NBA in recent years, with various restrictions and aprons making it difficult for teams to put together truly dominant squads.
However, one person who is a fan it is a rocket star Kevin Durant.
“Thank God for the second and first aprons,” Durant said, per Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, via the Washington Post .

Ironically, Durant’s stint with the Golden State Warriors was a big part of why there was such a push for the league to implement a second apron, as Golden State dominated the league for the three years he was in the Bay Area.
However, now many would argue that the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction, with teams essentially being penalized for smart roster construction by not being able to keep their cores together, even if they’re all homegrown.
Either way, the Rockets will take the floor next on Thursday against the Golden State Warriors.
