Why Philip Rivers will root for LA in Week 17

Philip Rivers he didn’t just come out of retirement to experience what it’s like to play in the NFL again. He is with the goal of leading the Indianapolis Colts to the NFL playoffs. However, completing that mission is no longer entirely in the hands of the Colts. For one thing, Indianapolis needs his former team Los Angeles Chargersto win in Week 17 against the Houston Texans at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood next Saturday.
After winning eight of their first 11 games, the Colts took off without a win in five consecutive games and now they have only one scenario left, where they will join the postseason showdown. Aside from the Chargers’ win in Week 17, Indianapolis also has business to take care of in Week 17 on Sunday against the red-hot Jacksonville Jaguars at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and in Week 18 against the Texans at NRG Stadium in Houston.
Rivers clarified one thing about the upcoming meeting between the Chargers and the Texans.
“I’m sure I’ll be involved (Saturday),” Rivers, 44, told reporters about the Chargers-Texans showdown, via James Boyd of the Athletics . It’s like a fan. … Pulling for Chargers will be easy to pull.”
It also shouldn’t be too difficult for Philips to show that level of support for the Chargers because of his affinity with the team. He played his best football with the Bolts, spending 16 seasons with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers before his first stint with the Colts in 2020 and his first retirement.
As for the Chargers, they have already punched their ticket to the playoffs and are still in the running for the division title in the AFC West.
