Why Warriors Jonathan Cumminga’s future is tied to the Giannis trade saga
As around the Golden State Warriors of the trade scenarios the team could do at the trade deadline, there is no doubt that one player in the franchise that has been highly speculated about Jonathan Cumminga. Despite that The Warriors previously signed Cummings to a new contracthis future is still being talked about, with it potentially being linked to the Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
On ClutchPoints’ “Clutch Schoops” with Brett Seigel and Tomer Azarly, the two would talk about Golden State and Kuminga’s trade status, with the former linking him to Antetokounmpo. More precisely, saying that Kuminga’s future “it depends” about what’s going on with the Bucks, as the Warriors are expected to be a team as heavily interested in Antetokounmpo as they always have been.
“Because if Giannis is available, obviously we know the Warriors have been linked to him since 2019, 2020 and Joe Lacob has made it clear that’s a player he’d like to pursue. Now, whether they actually do it depends on a few things. There’s been some speculation about Draymond Green and I’m saying it could happen that a future with Golden State can’t happen. Warriors front office on moving on from Draymond.”

Jonathan Cumminga could be in the Warriors’ trade deadline plan
While it was even rumors surrounding Warriors forward Draymond Green With the deadline set, Seigel doesn’t see that as a possibility, as Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr and the team don’t want him out of the franchise. Still, when it comes to a package for Antetokounmpo that would include Kuminga, Seigel doesn’t see it as strong, putting the young star in a smaller deal for the New Orleans Pelicans’ Trey Murphy, which makes more sense.
“I don’t expect the Warriors to have the best trade package for Giannis, so that opens the door for them to make a smaller move. Not Giannis, but move Cummings, and maybe get a guy like Trey Murphy or somebody in the fold,” Seigel said.
It remains to be seen how Kuminga’s future will play out with Golden State and if Antetokounmpo will be linked.
