David Adelman was more forthcoming, admitting that the Warriors’ five-man turnover has unsettled his players.
“It was confusing. That’s why there are press releases about injuries. Obviously the game plan was very different.”confirms the coach. “But that has nothing to do with coming out more aggressively on (Horford). The defensive coverage in the first half was too light and allowed him to shoot a few times. Because they weren’t 3-pointers in transition. They were half-court fouls.”
The Nuggets finally adjusted at halftime to regain control of the game, before pulling away in the final quarter. But for David Adelman, his players’ poor start to the game simply gave Al Horford (22 points on 8/11 shooting including 6/7 from distance, 7 assists) too much confidence and the rest of the Warriors.
“In the end it was all decided from the start of the match. We weren’t ready. It was a tough weekend for us, with the schedule, back-to-back games and everything, but that shouldn’t affect our approach to the match… We gave them confidence from the start and they had more energy.” he concludes.
