With Luka Doncic, the Cavaliers floor gets a new victim
The game in Cleveland didn’t start until four minutes ago Luka Dončić injured his left leg. The Lakers’ leader had just hit a 3-pointer and was stepping away, with small hops, on one leg. Until you fall… Because, remember, the floor of the Rocket Arena is slightly raised relative to the rest of the room. Also, when we go a little outside the boundaries of the field, we fall a few centimeters.
“It’s the only floor like that, so I guess it’s my fault. I have to stop jumping like that”, Slovenian is progressingwhich will return to the game in the loss of the Lakers but it will be very clearly limited. “I was a bit scared. It really wasn’t pleasant and looking back at the pictures, I got a bit lucky.”
“It’s clearly a safety hazard.”believes that JJ Redick is less forgiving of his opponent’s court. “I don’t know why it’s always like this. Really. I know we can make official complaints, but very often it doesn’t change anything.”
Drew Smith was seriously injured
This is not the first time a player has been injured due to this raised floor, associated with ice hockey installations and the insulation pad that must be installed. In November 2023Drew Smith attempted to block a 3-pointer before falling, right-footed, into the stat sheet on the left floor. The delay worsened the reception. The result? Dislocated knee, torn ligaments and the end of the season.
“It’s hard to see another player get injured on this floor, with a fall. I hope we can fix it. We are lucky that Doncic is doing well.”comments by Gabe Vincent.
Could the fact that a superstar is now affected make a difference and prompt the NBA to think about the issue, and force Cleveland to make changes? “I don’t know and don’t get me involved in this.”Luka Doncic asks, to which JJ Redick replies that a change is possible “is beyond my skills”.
