Wizards fans roast Draymond Green after Jordan Poole’s apology

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green hit Jordan Poole practice in October 2022, and the consequences of that incident are still being felt. Poole, now on Washington Wizards, commented on his old Warriors teammates after the Dubs beat Washington 122-114 on Saturday, via ESPN’s Mark Spears.

โ€œI love those guys over there. I love most of those guys over there,โ€ said the 25-year-old.

While Poole did not specifically call out Greene, the last player answered anyway “I’m really sorry” below Spears’ post, via social media.

Greene’s apology may have been original, but fans still won’t let him off the street. Warriors supporters blame the four-time NBA champion for breaking up their 2022 title-winning team, while Wizards fans see him as an enemy for hurting their rising star.

Poole fan page @PooleMuse replied with a GIF of popular streamer “Speed” looking unimpressed.

“I thought it was a parody account ๐Ÿ˜ญ,” @petalstothorns said.

“It doesn’t matter, there’s no going back from some things” @mindjitsu said.

“Look what you had Draymond,” @DubsBetterr said with video Green and Pula celebrate their championship in 2022. “I understand that you are sorry, but it should not come to the point of impact in training at all when you come down from the championship. We are all rooting for you, but this is a mistake that many will never forgive you for.โ€

“I should have apologized to him instead of replying to the tweet ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚,” PrizePicks said.

It’s safe to say fans weren’t impressed with Green’s confession. While the former Defensive Player of the Year has grown from his myriad incidents, the damage is irreparable in some respects.

In this case, Poole was an exciting young player who was key to Golden State’s championship team in 2022. The Warriors retained Green and traded Poole in the summer of ’23, however, after the incident cast a dark cloud over their 2022-23 campaign. The team has never been the same since.

Meanwhile, Poole is having a career year in Washington, as he is eighth in All-Star voting among Eastern Conference guards. The Michigan alum is under contract until age 28, so he has plenty of time to continue to improve alongside the Wizards’ young group.

Whether or not Green was truly sorry, Washington fans had the last laugh.
