Writer floats Michael Porter Jr.-Jonathan Kuminga trade idea
Like Golden State The trade of Warriors forward Jonathan Cuminga continues midway through the first month of the regular season, he could trade for the Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. be the best solution? Porter Jr., who is off to the most productive start to the regular season of his career, would bolster a Warriors team on both ends of the floor, according to Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports.
He floated to the warriors business idea centered around Porter Jr. and Cumminga, where the Nets would acquire two additional scorers and future picks in exchange for MPJ, O’Connor posted the following proposal on his X, formerly Twitter.
“Warriors Win: MPJ Nets Win: Kuminga, Moody, Hield, Future Picks Who Says No?” O’Connor asked before explaining what he believed Brooklyn was doing with Porter Jr. in its offense as a means to entice the team to make a trade, he said, according to The Kevin O’Connor Show.
“The 24 shutouts in 13 games so far this season surpass the 23 shutouts he had last year in 77 games,” O’Connor said. “He already has more isolations. Last year he had two pick-and-rolls per game to one per game. This year he has one setup per game, this year, with the Nets to one post-up every five games, last year, with the Nuggets, he averaged 24.2 points per game – that’s a career high. 18 points per game – that’s 2 assists per game – that’s a career high.
“And MPJ just has a little bit of a drop in efficiency. He’s looked great in everything he does because he got this opportunity on a bad Nets team. It seems to me that the Nets are bringing this guy up to try to raise his value to flip him again. It’s pretty clear that, here, with what’s going on with MPJ. We also want to decrease his podcast value. court,” O’Connor concluded.

NBA writer agrees Warriors trade for Michael Porter Jr.

For some, there’s a sign on the wall for Jonathan Cumminga from The Warriorswho is reportedly not on the same page as coach Steve Kerr. NBA writer Tom Haberstroh agreed with Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor on the Warriors’ trade proposal as a great way to move Jonathan Cummings for a player best suited to play alongside All-Stars Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler.
“You think about him playing next to Steph and Draymond and Jimmy Butler — your cuts are going to be rewarded,” Haberstoch said. “Your backdoor cuts to the rim and you move off the ball to get to an open spot on the floor. He’s going to find you. So I like to fit Michael Porter Jr. and especially if it’s a one-year rental and we’ll see what happens.
“Of all the Jonathan Cumminga trades, I like that one idea is to get a lock-and-key guy in Golden State, in this situation.”
