WWE star Kevin Owens confused by The Rock, Cody Rhodes turns

Fans and Kevin Owens were confused after Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Cody Rhodes‘ exchange further WWE Monday Night RAW premieres on Netflix.

The two embraced during The Rock’s promo at the show’s opening despite a heated feud going into WrestleMania XL. After that, they even shared a drink. Owens he didn’t let this slide when opposed to Rhodes and Wiseman Paul Heiman during the January 10, 2025 Friday Night episode SmackDown.

“I’d like to talk about when I thought you couldn’t get any worse, Cody, just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse than you teaming up with Roman Reigns in Bad Blood, it actually gets worse. Because on Monday night RAW you go and shake The Rock’s hand,” Owens said. “Why? Because he kissed your ass and rubbed your ego the right way?

“And now you’re shaking hands with Paul Heyman, and what’s going on?” 30 seconds after you shake hands, he looks you in the eye and says, ‘Roman Reigns wants his title back.’ You did it to yourself! You left Bloodline to shred Roman Reigns. But instead, no, you decided to help him, and now see what happens. Forget betraying my friendship, (if) you let Roman Reigns go, you’re going to hurt the whole company,” he continued.

Owens is clearly still hurt by Rhodes’ recent actions with Bloodline. After defeating Reigns at WrestleMania XL, he teamed up with him and seemingly became an ally of the tribal chieftain.

During the premiere of RAW on Netflix, Rhodes saved the Tribal Chief from Owens during a match between Reigns and Solo Syco. He took Owens out of the equation for Reigns. On February 1, Rhodes and Owens will settle their issues at the Royal Rumble in a ladder match.

The reason Owens is upset with Rhodes is because he helped him take down Bloodline. And now, it looks like Rhodes is friends with Bloodline.

Ever since WrestleMania 39, Owens has been helping Rhodes dethrone Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Championship. This was due to Owens’ disdain for the faction. He had several matches against Reigns for the championship during his long streak at the top.

After Rhodes finally took down Reigns, he began helping the members of the OG Bloodline. Reigns returned at SummerSlam in August 2024 to take on Sykoa, helping Rhodes retain the WWE Undisputed Championship in the process.

They then teamed up in Bad Blood to face Syko and Jacob Fatu. Since then, Rhodes has continued to be an ally of sorts to the First Tribal Chief.

Owens and Rhodes are now embroiled in a heated feud. It started at the Bash in Berlin after Rhodes gave Owens a title match as a reward for his friendship. This slowly began Owens’ turnaround, which continued into the new year.

They had a second match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2024. Rhodes won, but Owens stole the Winged Eagle Championship.
