Wyatt Johnston’s ‘pretty easy’ message after hat trick against Senators

The The Dallas Stars are one of the best teams in the NHL this season. And they proved that on Sunday night against the Ottawa Senators. Wyatt Johnston scored a hat trick against Ottawa, leading Dallas to a decisive 6-1 victory at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Johnston became one of the brightest young stars in the NHL. The Dallas forward has made it in big moments many times before. Even hat-trick performances are nothing new. This was his first hat trick in the 2025-26 season, but already the fourth in his career. He attributed his success to those around him when he talks to the media on Sunday night.

“You see a lot of my goals and a lot of goals in the League are around the net. You have to get there to have those opportunities,” Johnston said. “I think it goes with how great the players we have are and they can play. For me, it’s just getting (to the spot) and just being ready to shoot whenever we have because guys can find me pretty easily.”

Johnston took the field in 2025-26. After the victory over the Senators, Zvezda now has 16 goals and 30 points in 26 games. The 22-year-old is one of three Dallas skaters with 30 or more points, joining Jason Robertson and Mikko Rantanen.

The Stars improved to 17-5-4 on the season with the win over Ottawa. They are second in the Central Division, behind the great Colorado Avalanche. Dallas will try to win its fifth straight on Tuesday night against the New York Rangers.
