Zach Allen misses practice with calf injury before Raiders game

The 10-2 Denver Broncos face a surprise challenge ahead of the Week 14 showdown against the Las Vegas Raiders, as defensive end Zach Allen appeared on the Broncos’ injury report after missing Thursday’s practice. The unit must adjust quickly with the top seeding in the game and a key divisional touch trip.
The team posted its official update on X (formerly known as Twitter), offering the first clear image of the injury after Thursday’s work. The Broncos shared a summary and released an updated chart.
“Thursday’s #DENvsLV injury report”
The Broncos listed Allen out with a calf problem for Thursday’s team practice in what was a classic midweek sub. No veteran pass rusher was listed Wednesday, a shift that often signals a setback in practice as preparations tighten. In 12 games, Allen has 6.0 sacks, 11 solo tackles and 20 assists, leading an interior rush that holds the league’s highest sack rate.
Fellow defensive lineman DJ Jones was a DNP player with an ankle injury, causing real concern on the interior. If both starters sit, the depth has to carry a big load in a loud spot on the road. Rookie wide receiver Pat Bryant appeared Limited with a hamstring problem. Linebacker Jonah Elliss remained full after missing two games, while cornerback Reese Taylor remained full and Nate Adkins remained in the game with a knee problem.
Despite the concerns, the Broncos continue to profile as elite. They are 10-2 with the NFL lead in sacks, top-five in yards allowed and the league’s best red zone stop rate. Last week’s 27-26 overtime win against the Washington Commanders showed that edge again, with Nick Bonito getting the shutout even as the third downs remained tough.
The Las Vegas Raiders are 2-10, and Denver won the first meeting 10-7. Allegiant Stadium hosts the Raiders game. On paper, the edge of the trench favors the visitors, but the loss of Allen and Jones could change the scenario. Without interior pressure, the Raiders can find more stable running lanes or cleaner space to increase for the quarterback.
Friday marks will define availability. If Allen sits, expect more edge-driven pressure, quicker inside rotations and a speed-focused plan to keep the rush active in Week 14.
